5 WAYS TO MAINTAIN YOUR SALON COLORED HAIR

PURPLE HAIR PRODUCTS

If your hair is naturally dark like mine, purple hair products will become your best friends.  The purple tint in this products will help counteract unwanted brass or yellowish tones that so many people are afraid of. I’ve had ombre hair before and no one told me anything about using purple shampoo and conditioners. Trust me I dyed my hair back to dark brown 6 weeks down the line after spending some major $$$.

COOL IT DOWN

I love taking hot showers, I hate cold water. However, washing your hair with hot water can damage the color and faded it away. I like to wash with lukewarm water first and the rinse the conditioner or hair mask off with cold water. It will also make your hair shinier!

DON’T WASH YOUR MANE EVERYDAY

Talk to your hairstylist after you get your hair done for product recommendations, once you have good products to work with cut back on washing your hair everyday so that your color can last longer. I personally wash mine every 2 days. If I go to the pool or the beach and my hair gets wet, I like to rinse it off with water and just add conditioner at the end so I don’t over wash. If you have really oily and/or greasy roots that make you cringe, stock up on a good dry shampoo!

USE HEAT PROTECTANTS

Try to stay away from all heat tools, I know it’s hard but if you get a blow dry do it when your hair is 70-80% dry and make your blow dry last as much as you can! If you curl or use a straightener use heat protectants.

MOISTURE IS KING

I like to do an overnight coconut oil/olive oil hair mask to bring extra moisture back to my hair. I also like to leave my regular hair conditioner on for 5 minutes while I’m showering and alternate using a deep conditioning mask such as the moroccan oil restorative hair mask or the mud slide hair mask by Drybar.
